Get involved

the tempest

There are a few ways to get involved with our in-house production this year.

Take a look below for more information!

We're also looking for a small group folk musicians from Stroud and the surrounding area. We're planning a 'soundtrack' to the show, composed mostly of traditional tunes, with a few new ones thrown in for good measure. We'll meet a few times before the show, but the music isn't too complicated, and will offer lots of opportunity for collaboration. Any acoustic instruments welcome, but we are particularly looking for:

  • Fiddle / Violin / Other stringed instruments

  • Accordion / Concertina

  • Banjo / Mandolin / Guitar

  • Oboe / Clarinet / Trumpet

  • Percussion

The show will be performed  every day of the Festival (30th May - 2nd June 2019), with the possibility of an additional performance in July at The Dell, the Royal Shakespeare Company's open air venue in Stratford-upon-Avon. (TBC).

If you are 18+ and are confident in performing without music, please send us an email with your name and instrument, along with a recording or video of your music, or come along to auditions in January. We'll probably have a get-together around February to hand out music and get to know each other. Please note, all roles with Stroud Shakespeare Festival are unpaid.

backstage

We're in need a talented team of technicians and other backstage crew for the duration of the festival. If you have a backstage theatre skill, we probably want to hear from you! Particularly looking for:

  • Lighting / Sound technicians (if you have your own equipment, that's even better, but we do have access to some.)

  • Stage management and Risk assessment

  • Set design / construction

  • Set dressers for the venue to theme it to the show

  • Costume assistant

  • Make-up artists

The show will be performed  every day of the Festival (30th May - 2nd June 2019), with the possibility of an additional performance in July at The Dell, the Royal Shakespeare Company's open air venue in Stratford-upon-Avon. (TBC).

If you are 18+ and have any of these skills (or others we haven't thought of!) please fill out the volunteer application form below, and specify you are interested in 'The Tempest'. Please note, all roles with Stroud Shakespeare Festival are unpaid.
